Growth Mindset

Hello Scary Blog World,

This is my very first blog post ever, and while I was intimidated about setting it up at the beginning, it ended up being much easier than I thought it would be. The fear of something truly is worse than the thing itself! Except when it comes to thundersnow, of course; that's just terrifying. I also only use Gmail for my email so it was easy to set up my account.

I expect and hope to learn about ways to analyze art and gain a critical lens that helps me to understand the art I am exposed to. Often, I feel like I do not get what is happening in a certain work of art and I would like to better understand what I am seeing.

Taking an online course is a new experience for me but I am confident that I will learn and be challenged in new ways.

The girl who talks about determination in the Growth Mindset Orientation video is a person that I can relate to, because while it may take extra effort, I am willing to do whatever I need to succeed. Earlier in the video it mentions that the most important thing when learning is to not give up, and I feel that I am ready to work hard even when it is overwhelmingly difficult. Finally, I feel that the Growth Mindset diagram applies to me because I do believe that intelligence and skills can be developed. The fact that I am enrolled in the Art Education program as a Post-Baccalaureate student is founded upon my belief that we can grow and learn in ways we never thought possible! Growing means facing challenges directly and I am ready to do just that.

Maybe blogs aren't so scary after all...
